Advent Writing Sparks: Festive Prompts & Rubrics for KS1/KS2

Details

Designed specifically for overworked KS1 and KS2 teachers in the UK and Ireland, this resource provides a collection of original, curriculum-aligned writing prompts that inspire students during the festive season. With the Christmas market approaching on November 29th, teachers can save valuable time and effort with ready-to-use materials that engage and challenge young writers.

Inside, you'll find 15 unique British-themed Advent and Christmas writing prompts, such as 'The Magic Advent Candle' and 'Boxing Day Letter,' along with five differentiated rubrics to assess students' writing at various levels (emerging, meeting, exceeding). Each rubric comes with a practical usage guide to help teachers implement assessments effectively.

Additionally, this guide includes links to the UK National Curriculum, ensuring that all activities meet educational standards. Plus, a collection of ten integrated illustration PNG files (SVG sources included) are provided to enhance the visual appeal of students' work. For tech-savvy teachers, an optional editable PowerShell template is included for batch PDF generation of custom worksheets, although it is not essential for core functionality.
